"About and Beyond the Moods of Music"
The class consisted of mostly retired professionals
(physicians, scientist, businessmen, lawyers, scholars) and other active,
educated individuals with many holding Doctoral/PhD degrees.
There were 146 participants.
The following is a representative selection of quotes from the
written evaluations collected by the program administrators (each quote comes
from a different participant):
"I've been listening to music since I was a young girl.
Based on this course, I will be able to appreciate all music on a higher
level. The teacher is extraordinary.
//
Please come back and teach more courses! // Actually
changed my way of thinking about life. It's been a really unusual and
marvelous experience. Thanks, and please come back.
//
I have been coming to Evergreen and Osher for many
years. This class has been refreshingly different. I listen to music a lot
and this course has inspired me to discover a new and more enjoyable way to
listen. Mr. Sapieyevski gives his all. He has a great sense of humor. He is
wonderful.
//
The instructor's enthusiasm was contagious and he
involved the students beautifully no matter what their musical background (no
easy task!)
//
I loved his class because of his presentation. He
exceeded my expectations. I would take any course he taught!
//
Mr. Sapieyevski is a fabulous instructor. His passion
and excitement for music alone is what made this class so special. When you
combine this with his musical background and professional expertise, it makes
for a most interesting, educational and joyful musical experience. I hope he
will be encouraged to teach more classes. His excitement, passion is
infectious and he has a wonderful sense of humor.
//
Absolutely engaging personality. Huge surprise to find
he is talented performer as well. Class was like finding a fortune inside a
cookie. A wonderful addition. Thanks.
//
Surprised – Delighted with this course. // Please
get him back! It was very enlightening, innovative and a breath of fresh
air!
//
It was illuminating!++ // He is wonderful – great.
//
Instructor was extraordinary, stimulating, and
energetic. One of the best I've ever had.
//
We were thrilled by the lectures and this course. //
Wonderful, gifted teacher. Certainly hope he will return. Would take any of his
courses.
//
I most enjoyed the instructor as a talented musician. I
wish he had played the piano more. The best moments were Mr. Sapieyevski's
insights interpreting Mozart's Requiem – Unforgettable! Second great moment –
"experiencing" Beethoven.
//
I enjoyed the teacher tremendously. He is a great
musician who inspired all of us in many ways that were unknown to us.
//
What a breath of fresh air! He is terrific with an
interesting style (+ remarkable ability at the piano!)"//
